Frederick Brosen
A native New Yorker, Frederick Brosen began his studies at City College of New York, studied art at the Art Students League and received his MFA from Pratt Institute. Brosen has been recognized with a Silver Medal of Honor by the Royal Society of Arts & Letters in London, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and an artist residency at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
Brosen's watercolors have been acquired by the New York Historical Society, the Knoxville Museum of Art, The Museum of the City of New York, Frye Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rockefeller Foundation. His work is also represented in the personal collections of Rita Rich, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Ross and Billy Wilder and the corporate collections of the John Hancock Company, Massachusetts Financial Services, Merrill Lynch and NYNEX.
Brosen has been invited to exhibit at Bruce Museum of Greenwich, CT, National Academy of Design in New York, American Academy of Arts and Letters New York, Museum of the City of New York, Huntington Museum, Forum Gallery in Los Angeles and Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA.
Two books feature Brosen's work; the monograph The Urban Cityscapes of Frederick Brosen: Viewpoints Sixteen by Debra Byrne, and Still New York, by Ric Burns, an architectural record of neighborhoods up and down Manhattan.
