El Greco and Egon Schiele are separated by 200 years, however, there are many similarities between their paintings. This course will compare and contrast their brushwork, use of line, and how they used black to either float form or define it. Working from the live model, we will make expressive figure paintings in the manner of each artist, exploring their techniques and concepts. Issues of depth of space, gravity, color, texture, and line will be covered to enhance your work.
