Focus on the portrait! Each week will include a lesson in foundational drawing technique that will give teens the skills they need to develop both shorter and longer drawings based on the model. We will examine the work of contemporary and historic portrait artists; master copies will help deepen students understanding of drawing techniques. Students will work from different professional portrait model each week and will be encouraged to bring in examples of their favorite artists and works of art to serve as mentors as they develop their own voice. Materials include graphite, charcoal and mixed media.
