Bring at least one finished drawing or painting, and another that you are working on, along
with your preferred supplies. A sketchbook or notebook would also be useful. Additional supplies will be discussed in class.
Are you an intermediate or advanced student who likes the structure of a class, but wants to work on your own projects? Do you enjoy feedback in a supportive and creative environment? The new Mentored Studies in Representation is designed for students whose work, based on representation and on ideas of how to resolve observation at the pictorial level, focuses on Still Life, Portrait and the Figure. Join a group of motivated peers for weekly painting sessions in which you complete work in progress, start a new work, or develop new ideas, while mentored by a Gage faculty instructor. The group will be led by a different Gage artist each quarter, led this month by artist Aron Hart. The new four-hour format is designed for adequate in-class work time. Work sessions are supplemented by occasional readings, discussions and critiques of student work.
