The Art Of True Collage

Patrick LoCicero is featured in numerous galleries across the country as well as in important private and public collections internationally including The Dayton Art Museum, The San Francisco Legion of Honor, Swedish Medical Center, Virginia Mason Medical Center, Trinity University, Oregon Health Sciences University, The University of Washington Medical Center, The San Francisco International Airport, The California LEF Foundation, and Croner International, Paris France as well as the Dicke Family Collection in Ohio and the Sarah Berger Family Collection in Delmar, CA. In addition, he has done numerous commissions for multinational companies. His work has been reviewed in The San Francisco Chronicle, The Seattle Times, The Washington Post, Art News, Art Week, Nashville Arts Magazine and Arts ltd. He has been awarded a Maryland State Arts Award and a San Francisco Artist Relocation grant. He received BFA from The Ohio State University and his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. He is currently adjunct faculty at Cornish College of the Arts and an instructor at Gage Academy of Art.

  • Single Edge Razor Blades or Xacto Knife AND scissors
  • 1” or 2” Chip Brush
  • Two 12 oz jars or plastic containers
  • One 12” to 16” Metal Straight Edge
  • One Cotton Towel ( cut into 12” sections)
  • One to two 22” x 30” Heavy Weight Rag Watercolor paper
  • Masking Tape
  • One or more ½” or 1 ½” Elephant Board Wood Panel, Size Optional, no smaller than 18” x 24” , can do more than one depending on size, ability level, concept.
  • Assortment of Paints. Can work in Oils or Acrylics 3.7 ml. (student or professional grade, level of artist will determine, pallet, medium type and quality):
    • Titanium White
    • Mars Black
    • Burnt Sienna
    • Burnt Umber
    • Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue
    • Ultramarine Blue
    • Cadmium Red Medium Hue
    • Hansa Yellow
  • Disposable Palette /Optional Glass Palette
  • Palette Knife/Optional Flexible putty knife
  • Assortment of Brushes that include: # 6 round, #8 bright, # 6 Filbert, #12 Flat, # 1 Round
  • Rags (terry cloth rags are best)

Glue, Varnishes, Matt Medium, Various supplies, tools, Furnished, please bring $ 15 to workshop to reimburse Instructor.

Explore the many nuances of making art through collage and glued paper materials. Work on different surfaces, from rag paper to panel, and in all artistic styles. We will explore layering, overlap, isolation, repetition, composition, and surface manipulation.
