Jonathan Happ is representational painter born and raised in northwestern Illinois. He attended Iowa State University to study painting and philosophy, earning a BFA in 2010 and in 2014 earned an MFA in painting and drawing from the University of Washington in Seattle. Jonathan has been selected as an artist in residence in the US and internationally in Singapore.
Jonathan has designed and instructed painting and drawing courses around the state of Washington, receiving the Parnassus Teaching with Excellence award as well as a Meritorious Visiting Faculty award from the University of Washington. He exhibits nationally and internationally and currently resides in Seattle, Washington.

Gain technical mastery and intuitive understanding of depicting the human form. Working from quick gesture drawings to longer, more considered poses and drawings, students learn to incorporate proportion and anatomy, use light and shade to depict volume, and line and tone to describe planar changes in the body.
