First Steps in Drawing the Human Animal

9:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.
Live Model
Grades 5-8
Gage Capitol Hill, Room 200
Working from a costumed model, students will discover how to simplify the forms of the body into big shapes using the basic principles of figure drawing: line of action, gesture, proportions, and measurement. Students will develop a introductory understanding of human anatomy and learn to see shapes in perspective with many quick drawings. Taking inspiration from the model, we will then apply these skills to morphing the human form into animals and creatures from imagination.
