Cupid
Charcoal, shellac ink and gesso on paper, 30 x 44, NFS
4th Year in Flack Atelier
My most recent work remains focused on figurative representation, with a constant desire to learn about different materials and techniques. My passion for materials has led me to experiment with making my own shellac inks, grounds and paints. The intense focus on materiality allowed me to shift my interest from the subject of my drawings to the process itself. While my compositions tend to be simple, I want to achieve a certain complexity and quality of the final surface. I approach my work with an open mind, often responding to the element of surprise that a particular combination of materials presents.

Stuck at home in isolation, trees are my life models these days. Stuck in the ethereal and foggy, kind of how I’m feeling in this situation.
