Foundation Figure Drawing

Aron Hart is an award-winning artist and art instructor, living in the Seattle area.  He specializes in oil paintings and drawings.  Dedicated to learning, Aron has continued to develop his skills over the years, studying locally and abroad, and most recently completing three years in the Drawing and Painting Atelier program at Gage Academy of Art.

  • *Drawing board 18” x 24″
  • *Rough Newsprint 18” x 24” (to pad your drawing paper, and for gestures)
  • Strathmore 500 series white charcoal paper 18” x 24″ (1 or 2 sheets
  • Strathmore 500 series assorted tint charcoal drawing pad 18” x 24″
  • *Kneaded eraser
  • *White eraser
  • *General’s Charcoal pencils (several HB’s one 2B)
  • General’s White Charcoal pencil
  • Blending Stumps (not the spiral wound ones)
  • *Willow Charcoal (Med. Sticks 5-6 mm)
  • Conte Crayon Pencils (Sanguine, black & white)
  • Long handled filbert bristle brush, approx.1/2” wide
  • *Chamois
  • *Small Snap knife from hardware store
  • *Sandpaper (one piece of 150 sandpaper is all you’ll need)
  • *2 bull dog clips
  • *Wooden skewer (for sighting and measuring)
  • Tombow Zero Refillable Round Eraser (optional but VERY useful)

*Materials needed for the first class, the rest of the materials will be discussed in the first class.

There will be weekly homework for this class. It’s optional, but highly recommended.

 
Third in the series, Foundation Figure Drawing: Techniques and Materials explores various methods of drawing the figure from life. Continuing to build upon skills learned in previous figure drawing classes, students will deepen their understanding and use of new materials. Materials in this class include white chalk, powdered charcoal, red chalk, and graphite.
