Learn the basics of drawing the nude figure. Using graphite and charcoal, students will develop a strategic approach to constructing a realistic figure from life by studying proportion, gesture, comparative measurement, and value. Weekly demonstrations will focus on blocking-in the figure and exploring how light illuminates the three-dimensional nature of the body. Students will work with several professional models, beginning with short poses and building up to longer drawings by the end of the class, when they will have the option to blend what they see from life with imagination.
