WHO SHOULD APPLY?
The Studio Arts Intensive is specifically designed for artists seeking to build foundational arts skills and create a strong portfolio of work for admission to a university or atelier program, or to pursue a career in the visual arts.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
WHEN ARE THE CLASSES?
Studio Arts Intensive students are required to attend a minimum of three classes (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) during a seven-month period from April through October.
ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?
No. However, students who complete the Studio Arts Intensive and enroll at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, may be eligible for a scholarship that covers 50% of their total tuition at Cornish for the entire four years of their program. More information is available by contacting Olivia Beaufait, or calling 206.323.4243, x18
WHAT MAKES THE STUDIO ARTS INTENSIVE DIFFERENT FROM A COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
Studio Arts Intensive classes are intimate (16 students), allowing instructors the opportunity to provide personalized attention and individual mentorship. The Studio Arts Intensive is distinguished by its intensive foundational arts curriculum, personalized learning and individual mentorship. Students build strong foundational skills in drawing, painting and sculpture. 90% of learning takes place in the studios at Gage, in addition to a broad range of complementary activities that include visits to nearby colleges, trips to museums and artist studio visits, special guest lectures and demonstrations, and a culminating student exhibition.
CAN I VISIT GAGE BEFORE APPLYING?
Of course! Prospective students are encouraged to visit Gage prior to applying, to meet instructors and tour the studios. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a visit.
CAN I EARN COLLEGE CREDITS?
No. However, the schedule allows time for students to earn credits independently outside of the program through part-time study (but additional study must be coordinated independently).
CAN I WORK WHILE I STUDY?
Yes. Students are expected to study three days a week so it may be possible to work part-time to supplement your studies.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED?
Gage features studios equipped with easels, professional lighting and other amenities for the artist-in-training. However, students are required to provide their own materials for the classes. A full list of materials will also be provided to students upon admission.
HOW DO I APPLY?
If you wish to apply for admission to Studio Arts Intensive, please return your application by May 1, 2015 to be considered for the 2015 academic year.
