Drawing Journeys

Grace is a Seattle-based artist who specializes in oil painting and traditional media like graphite and charcoal. She is a pupil of master contemporary painter Juliette Aristides and is deeply invested in the practice of drawing and painting from observation. She exhibits her work around the Pacific Northwest and has been published in Artist and Illustrator Magazine. Grace teaches private lessons for adults and teens and is a youth programs instructor at Gage Academy.

Discover diverse approaches to drawing that go beyond pencil and paper. Students will learn the basics of drawing and then mix wet and dry mediums like ink, watercolor, and graphite powder to achieve multi-layered creations. Working from both a costumed figure model and ourselves as a subject, we will use structured exercises to get to know new materials and understand their limits. Learn observational drawing techniques and then develop projects from imagination!
