The Figure in Gesture

A recent graduate of the Magrath Atelier, Lentini’s virtuoso talent has developed him into a awe-inspiring conceptual and technical sculptor. He believes in emotion as the raw force for creating art and finds creative renewal in art that exhibits the dynamic of deconstruction and reconstruction.

The school will provide clay and armature:

  • ¾” thick square of plywood (one side smooth) 16” x 16”
  • 1/2″ flange
  • 1/2″ x 12″ pipe
  • 1/2″ coupler
  • #10 wood screws
  • coated coper wire
  • soldate 60 clay (one box per student)

Students should bring to the class:

  • small tipped wooded modeling tool and Fettling Knife
  • 8″ Calipers
  • cutting wire
  • 2 metal serrated ribs, one large tooth and one small tooth
  • one table fork
  • a sketch pad and pencil
  • a measuring tape
  • plastic bottle for misting plants
  • bamboo skewers
  • large 1.5” round loop tool

 
Explore the expressive possibilities of clay, wire, and other media. We will start with short poses and work up to longer poses in order to increase speed, fluidity, and depth of observation. The Figure in Gesture is a must for serious students and a great overview for beginners. Class price includes clay.
