Trois Crayon Portrait Drawing

Aron Hart is an award-winning artist and art instructor, living in the Seattle area.  He specializes in oil paintings and drawings.  Dedicated to learning, Aron has continued to develop his skills over the years, studying locally and abroad, and most recently completing three years in the Drawing and Painting Atelier program at Gage Academy of Art.

  • 18″x24″ newsprint or white drawing paper
  • 4” newsprint or white drawing paper
  • Pencil and notebook
  • White pencil eraser
  • Faber Castell Perfection 7058B eraser
  • Blending Stumps (not the spiral wound ones)
  • Prismacolor Verithin Pencils, terra cotta and black (2 or 3 of each)
  • General’s White Charcoal pencil
  • Small Snap knife from hardware store
  • ½” Bristle brush (as used for oil painting)
  • Sandpaper (one piece of 150 sandpaper is all you’ll need)
  • 2 bull dog clips
  • Wooden skewer (for sighting)

*There will be a $5 materials fee collected at the start of class to pay for hand toned drawing paper bought and prepared by the instructor.

Trois crayon refers to a drawing technique based on three colors of chalk: red (sanguine), black, and white on toned paper. Drawing from a portrait model, we will utilize trois crayon to render sensitive and delicate portraits. Instructor Aron Hart will guide your work and study.
