Create Webcomics
with Brianna Fecarotta

Saturdays | Jan 23 – Feb 20 | 9:30am-12:30pm

Do you like comics? Do you especially like webcomics and webtoons? With the internet and social media, comics have flourished online in the last decade, entertaining us with everything from 4 panel strips to multi-chapter webcomics and webtoons. This has not only evolved comic art itself, but it has also made it more accessible and easier than ever to start your own webcomic. In this class, we will focus on comparing how comics have changed with the internet’s influence, talking about our own comic ideas, and actively applying that to creating our own. By the end of the class, you will have completed a short comic – and you’ll possess the knowledge to share it with the world in the digital age!

Comics Challenge
with Jonathan Tune

Saturdays | Feb 27 – Mar 27 | 5:00pm-8:00pm

Have you ever heard of The 24 hour comic challenge? It has a simple premise: draw a 24 page comic in 24 hours. We’ll only have 15 hours, including stretch breaks, so let’s make 12 pages of comics!

Each class will teach skills to build that final 12 page product. Students will learn to create characters, draw environments, and combine the two in dynamic compositions. We will sketch out the story from script, to thumbnail, to final pencils, then ink it! Don’t have an idea for a story? No worries–we’ll have a class on that too!

15 hours. 12 pages. It won’t be easy, but those who complete the challenge will receive a special top-secret reward.*

*The ability to make more comics.
