Using traditional media, students will develop a strategic approach for constructing a realistic figure from life using proportion, gesture, comparative measurement, and value. Weekly demonstrations will focus on blocking in the figure and exploring how light illuminates the three-dimensional nature of the body. Students will work with several professional models, beginning with short poses and building up to longer drawings. By the end of the class when they will have the option to blend what they see with imagination.
