Learn to sculpt the portrait and capture likeness and personality in clay. Students will learn to sculpt a full scale portrait in water clay on a fixed armature, while working from a live model. Instruction will include an introduction to tools and techniques, proportions, structural anatomy, and learning to closely observe the nuances of the human face. Each student will begin by first massing in the shape of the skull, and learn to incorporate facial features in relation to this structure. Instruction will include demos, brief lectures, and individual feedback throughout the class. By the end of the session, each student will have created one portrait from a live model.
